    Getting started with YouVR

    Here's a simple overview of the whole workflows and common features:

    The Quicksite 3D App is the mobile application with which you will connect your 360 camera and create a new tour to capture the 3D image. When you walk through space with your smartphone and 360 camera, you will get the spaces calibrated on the floorplan automatically. The Quicksite 3D app supports only iOS at this point. 

    The Web Editor and Viewer is where you can edit all your tours and view them whenever you want. It's a perfect tool to customize your own tours with industry-specific taggings and additional information about the space. 

    The Group Management System(GMS) is a user management platform that enables you to overview all the activities of each member to every group under your projects and give access and authority regarding the level of users.

    The Project Management System(PMS) is a total management platform covering all tours under projects. You can get insights into every single walkthrough that the projects have gone through, checking the basic information of the environments regarding your projects.

     

     

     

  • Getting started with Quicksite 3D

    The Quicksite 3D app is a mobile application to create new projects and capture 360° images of your space. By pairing a 360 camera to the app, you can capture your site to create a 3D digital replica. Quicksite 3D will automatically track your path and create a digitized 3D space for you.

  • Getting started with Web Editor

    The Web Editor is where you can edit all your projects and view them whenever you want. It's a perfect tool to customize your own projects with industry-specific tags and additional information about the property.

    After taking the pictures with a 360-degree camera and uploading them on the Quicksite 3D app, you can get an automatically created tour that gives a "hand-made" feel. All you need to do to make it more informative is to put abundant materials by tagging them on the YouVR web editor.

     

  • Getting started with Group Management System

    The Group Management System(GMS) is a user management platform that enables you to overview all the activities of each member to every group under your projects and give access/authority regarding the level of users.

    Get a quick overview of which process you have to go through to utilize the group management system.

     

    Purpose of GMS

    Group Management System enables each member at different levels to manage their group, member, and tours entirely and partially. It's rather for internal use in terms of managing groups of people who are involved in creating and/or maintaining a tour.  

     

    How different the level is

    The authority/access depends on each level of role. There are three main roles: supervisor, group admin, and member.

    1) Supervisor

    A supervisor manages all the group admins and members, so do their tours. It has access to every single user on the corporate server not only to create/remove their tours but also edit them in real-time. 

    2) Group admin

    Group admins have the authority to administrate its group member's tour. They can create, delete, and edit each and every member's tours and replace them from one another.

    3) Member

    Members can create and edit their tour just like they did on the web editor and viewer. Except for the management role(supervisor, group admin), there is almost no difference for normal users caused by the group management system.

    Purpose of the Project Management System

    Project Management System enables admins to manage all the tours under the projects with abundant information related to them. It's for better communication over the space to optimize the collaboration from different parties outside or inside the company.

     

    How to utilize 

    1) Get information about the history of space/building

    You can get extra but necessary information about the building/space related to the facility. It can be the knowledge base of the projects covering from when it started to be built and when it was built completely, to how many people are working in the building. 

     

    2) Manage all projects located in different places

    PMS works like an infinite portal to look through every project you have spread out in the world. You can set the view by continents, countries, regions, cities, and buildings and view the tours for the designated areas. 

     

Getting started

  • YouVR File types

    YouVR supports only Ricoh theta series at this moment.

    • All 360 images taken by Ricoh theta will download as JPEG image file.
    •  The size of 360 images will depend on the type of camera.
      • Ricoh Theta Z1: 6720 * 3360
      • Ricoh Theta V: 5376 * 2688
      • Ricoh Theta SC: 1920 * 1080
    • The file size of 360 images will range from 3 MB to 5 MB depending on the details of each image.

     

     

  • Things to follow for best outcomes

     

    There are some conditions that should be set before starting to capture and during capturing the space with the Quicksite 3D app to get the best automatically created tour.

     

    Set the camera height 

    1) Set the camera above your head.  

    The optimal condition is when the camera positioned in the center height of the room. For example, if the ceiling is 3.2 m than the camera at 1.6 m will work finest. 

    However, considering the height of the shooter, you have to set the camera above your head(1.7 - 1.8m) so the camera lens won’t have anything blocked in front of it. The camera should be higher than the shooter, but should also have enough distance from the ceiling.

     

    2) Input the actual height of the camera into Quicksite 3D app.

    After you completed setting up the camera on a tripod, input the actual height of the tripod into the ‘camera height’ in Quicksite 3D app.

    Distance between two scenes 

    1) Capture 360 photos every 2m to 3m apart.

    YouVR can connect each scene simply by detecting common feature points and mapping them directly onto a 3D model. If the scenes are taken too far apart from each other, our system cannot get the common feature points and will get the unnatural results.

     

    2) When capturing 360 images, ensure that the line of sight between each scan is unblocked.

    Try to capture the significant point on the path like real.

    3) Shoot more around the doorways.

    For every doorway, capture one image approximately 1 m before the doorway, one image under the doorway and one image approximately 1 m after the doorway.

    4) Avoid capturing too near to the walls or furniture.

    It may affect to disturb detecting common points. Also, avoid taking pictures at the corners of the room.

  • Set up with Quicksite 3D

    Before you begin

    Quicksite 3D app is only available on the testflight for now. Get an invitation from us via email and download the Quicksite 3D through the testflight app.

     

    Set up with Quicksite 3D

    After downloading the Quicksite 3D app, sign up with your Quicksite 3D account and follow the steps below to create a new project for getting started. 

    Step 1. Open the Quicksite 3D app and sign in.

    • Put the given enterprise ID
    • All the inputs are case sensitive.

    Step 2. Create a new project by pressing the plus button in the middle of the screen. Put the project name.

    Step 3. Select the 360 camera.

    Make sure that the Ricoh Theta is connected properly with Wifi settings. To learn how to connect the camera with a smartphone, click here. Quicksite 3D is compatible only with Ricoh Theta at this point.

    Step 4. Select the shooting mode. You can select between auto mode and manual mode, and shooting mode can be changed during capturing.

    • Auto Mode: Scans are captured automatically when the countdown finishes. 
    • Manual Mode: Scans are captured when you press the capture button.

    Step 5. Set the camera height, the distance between capture points, and timer for the countdown. 

    • Camera height: Height from the ground to the camera lens. It’s important to keep this height consistent throughout your projects. 
    • Distance: Regular distance for every 360 images. Once you go further out of the safe distance, the app will notify you. We recommend capturing 360 images every 2m to 3m to get enough common feature points.
    • Timer: The app will take the next 360 image automatically as soon as it finished counting the seconds.

    Step 6. Upload the floor plan if you have. Quicksite 3D can proceed both with or without a floor plan, so you can skip this step and upload later on the web dashboard.

    Step 7. Align the camera view and smartphone view based on the centerline.

    Tip) Make sure that target points are pointing at the same object.

    Once finished, click OK to confirm.

     

    Now you can start capturing with Quicksite 3D.

  • How to connect Ricoh Theta with the app

    Most of the 360 camera is connected via Wifi network. Please be sure to open the Quicksite 3D App first with Wifi/Data connection and then proceed with the following steps.

     

    Step 1. Press the power button on the side of camera and power on.

    Step 2. Press the mode button to make sure that "Camera mode" is on, not the "Video mode".

    Step 3. Press the Wireless button on the camera to turn the Wifi on. Check the Wifi lamp is blinking.

    Step 4. Go to Wifi settings on your phone and search the network named “THETAYL00000000”.(numbers will vary)

     

    Step 5. Input the password. The password of your RICOH Camera is the sequence of numbers after the network name.

    Step 6. Make sure that Wifi lamp on Ricoh Theta is not blinking, but stay shining.

    Step 7. Open the Quicksite 3D App.

Capture

  • Delete 360 images during capturing

    While you are capturing the site, you can delete 360 images and retake it in real time.

    Step 1. Swipe your mini-map to the right to open it in full view for editing.

    Step 2. Tap on the point number to select and delete.

    Step 3. Once selected, the point will turn yellow. Click on  mceclip0.png  icon to delete.

    Step 4. Click  mceclip7.png  and go back to capturing.

     

  • Create a new project

    Create a new project

    Once the camera is connected and all previous steps are set up, users can create a new project. Users mainly utilize capture and delete 360 images to survey the property. There are two ways of creating new projects - with/without a floor plan.

     

    Without a floor plan

    1. Once the cameras are aligned, go to the position of the first 360 image.

    2. Click mceclip7.png button to capture.

    3. Move approximately 2 m towards the next position.

    5. After capturing all the images, click  Asset_21_2x.png  to create a new section or download images from 360 camera.

    6. Download images from 360 camera. 

     

    Now users can edit or upload the project.

     

     

    With a floor plan

    1. Once the cameras are aligned, go to the position of the first 360 image.

    2. Click  mceclip10.png button to capture.

    3. Locate the first 360 image on the floor plan, and click mceclip11.png button.

    4. Move approximately 2 m towards the next position, and capture the second image.

    5. Position it on the floor plan.

    6. After calibrating 1st&2nd 360 image, Quicksite app automatically tracks the distance and direction. 

    • When your current location is incorrect, recalibrate the position.

    7. Click   Asset_21_2x.png   to finish and download.

    Now the projects are editable or can be uploaded.

Edit

  • Add more 360 images on existing projects

    After you finish capturing the property and downloading images from 360 camera, you can still add more images to existing project unless it is an updated project.

     

    Preset before adding new images

    From the ‘To do’ list, select the project to edit and click ‘Edit Tour’.

    Tap on scan, and click mceclip6.png button.

    Align the 360 camera screen with your smartphone camera screen. (Click here to learn how to align cameras)

     

    Without a floor plan

    Once you enter draft tour, Quicksite 3D will automatically prompt you to calibrate your location using two previous spots. 

     

    Step 1. Select any spot to start.

    Selecting a spot will allow you to preview the scan.

    Step 2. Position yourself at the same location.

    Once you have walked to the same location, press mceclip2.png.

     

    Step 3. Select a second spot to calibrate your position.

    Once two spots have been calibrated successfully, the next image is ready to be continued.

    With a floor plan

    For projects with a floor plan, you don’t have to calibrate your position, but you can simply locate yourself on the minimap.

Upload

  • Upload a project

    Even if you download all 360 images from the camera, it doesn't mean you can see the projects on the web. Before uploading, all projects are only in the smartphone so projects should be uploaded to the server.

     

    Step 1. Click upload.

    Step 2. Set the cover image and the opening view of the project.

    Step 3. Put the title and address of the project.

    Step 4. Upload.

    • Uploaded tours can only be edited on web editor, but not in the app.
    • Tags are still editable in the app.

     

    Step 5. Once uploaded, the project status would be ‘Processing’. Processing time depends on several factors; the size of a project, network environment, smartphone, and etc. For 20 images, it roughly takes 8 minutes.

    Step 6. Once processed, your tour will be shown as ‘updated’. 

    Tap the tour and click ‘Move To Done’ to finish. After the project is moved to done, it can't be edited.

Quicksite 3D FAQ

  • Why is my mini map enlarged suddenly?

    After creating a tour with a floor plan, you would capture and locate the first and second scenes.  These will be the standard for the rest of the scenes in this tour.

     

    After locating the first scene, it is necessary to move the proper distance, which is approximately 2 meter, and locate the second scene on the floor plan. It doesn't have to be exactly 2 m, but it must be positioned correctly according to the floor plan. 

     

    If you find this process difficult, we recommend you to capture without floor plan and upload it later.

  • What happens if I set height in the app different with the actual camera height?

    If the height you set in the app is different with the actual camera height, there is 2 possible option that can happen.

     

    1) Each scan points on the floor will not represent the real position. 

    The points will appear much higher than where they were supposed to appear. For example, instead of having points on the floor, they may appear in the middle of a wall or on a table.

     

    2) Virtual measurement might work incorrectly.

    When using virtual measurement in the viewer, the extracted measurement will be wrong.

    Sign in with your Quicksite account.

    (1) Enterprise users must use login with the enterprise option. 

    (2) Enterprise users must put an enterprise ID. The enterprise ID is case sensitive, so make the accuracy fo the inputs.

    (3) Put the username or email registered to a group.

    (4) Put the user password.
